Australian January manufacturing activity index slips below 50 (Thomson Financial News)
The Australian Industry Group−PricewaterhouseCoopers performance of manufacturing index (PMI) eased to a reading of 49.2 points in January from 57.6 in December, showing a contraction in activity in the sector for the first time in two years. A reading below 50 indicates contraction while a reading over 50 indicates expansion.
