After reaching a new historical level at 1.4280, the Euro made a significant drop with over 75 pips to 1.4207. There are no signs of trade changing for the time being, but we may witness short consolidation before we see new records being reached.

Friday Notes - Ailing USD hurts sentiment by HVB Group

The services PMI so far in Q3 have shown good resilience to past increases in interest rates, with the July− August average remaining broadly in line with Q2. However, we think that the ongoing dislocation in money markets, and even more the Northern Rock crisis, should have affected sentiment particularly within the financial sector.

Euro−Zone Sep Services PMI 54.2 Vs 58.0 In Aug (Dow Jones)

The purchasing managers index for the euro zone's dominant services sector plunged to 54.2 in September from 58.0 in August, market sources said Wednesday. The decline in the PMI, which signals a sharp slowdown in activity in the sector, was revised up from the flash estimate of 54.0.

German Sep Services PMI 53.1 Vs 59.8 In Aug − Sources (Dow Jones)

The purchasing managers index for Germany's dominant services sector plummeted to 53.1 in September from 59.8 in August, market sources said Wednesday. The scale of the decline was much larger than expected. Economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires last week estimated that the PMI fell to 56.0.
