In August the Euro made a correction, but overall dropping for the month was insignificant. In force remains the middle term upward channel with bottom limit 1.3447.

BoE expect inflation to remain close to its 2% target, or a "little below", in the next few months. Regarding the recent credit crunch, BoE noted that it's too soon to tell how the disruption in financial markets will impair the availability of credit to companies and households but will monitor closely the evolution of both "credit spreads" and the "quantities of credit extended". Swiss retail sales have increased in July although at a pace somewhat slower than expected and considerably slower than the average growth from the first six months of the year, as the latest data by the Swiss statistics office shows.
