Markets remain in tight range as the week starts quietly. Q1 capital spending in Japan slowed from 16.8% to 13.4% but was way above expectation of 9.6%. The figure suggest that Japanese investment is a little stronger than previously thought and business are still optimistic about the economy.

Australia Q1 company gross profits up 7.6 pct vs Q4 rise 2.5 pct (AFX News)
Gross company profits rose a seasonally adjusted 7.6 pct to 47.049 bln aud in the three months to March compared to the December quarter, and were up 17.1 pct year-on-year, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said. In the fourth quarter, gross company profits increased 3.0 pct, revised up from the previously reported rise of 2.5 pct.
