The dollar remains firmer across the board after recovering its recent losses Vs the Euro on yesterday by breaking the key support at 1.3560. Support is seen at 1.3500 backed by 1.3460 and 1.3420. Resistance emerges at 1.3560 followed by 1.3580 and 1.3610. Daily sentiment is bearish, hourly is neutral.

Bank of Japan keeps overnight call rate target unchanged (AFX News)

The Bank of Japan kept its overnight call rate target unchanged at 0.50 pct for the fourth straight meeting, as widely expected by the market. The central bank said the vote by its nine-member policy board had been unanimous. The board also decided to leave the Lombard rate, at which it lends direct to commercial banks, at 0.75 pct.

Japan Jan-March GDP up 0.6 pct, annualized growth 2.4 pct; below forecast (AFX News)

The Japanese economy grew 0.6 pct in real terms in the three months to March compared to the previous quarter, or at an annualized rate of 2.4 pct, the Cabinet Office reported. Ten economists polled by XFN-Asia were looking for quarter-on-quarter expansion of 0.7 pct and annualized growth of 2.6 pct, on average.
