Daily Technical Analysis - EUR: A sustained break above last week's high at 1.3442 targets 1.3475 by Mizuho Corporate Bank
Well bid despite these historically very high levels, yet lagging this month's best performers (Australian dollar and Brazilian real). A sustained break above last week's high at 1.3442 targets 1.3475 and then the all-time high at 1.3670. Implied volatility might then pick up a little further.

Friday Notes - Rising risks for us consumption by HVB Group
Investors will look for details on the decision to change the statement. Bernanke told Congress that weakening the rate hike bias was done not to show neutrality (he said an anti-inflation bias is still in force) but to add “flexibility.†To us, that means the Fed may ease at some point, but only in reaction to an economic slowdown that is much worse than experienced up to now.

German Feb Trade Surplus EUR14.2B Vs EUR16.2B In Jan (Dow Jones)
Germany's trade surplus shrank more than expected to EUR14.2 billion in February from EUR16.2 billion in January due to strong imports, data released by the Federal Statistics Office showed Tuesday. The market was expecting a EUR15.4 billion surplus in February, according to a Dow Jones Newswires survey of economists.

Bank of Japan keeps overnight call rate target unchanged (AFX News)
The Bank of Japan kept its overnight call rate target unchanged at 0.5 pct for the second straight meeting, as widely expected by the market. The BoJ said the vote by the nine-member policy board was unanimous. At the conclusion of a two-day board meeting, the board also decided to leave the Lombard rate, at which it lends directly to commercial banks, at 0.75 pct.
