The euro gained ground vis-Ã -vis the U.S. dollar today as the single currency tested offers around the US$ 1.3155 level and was supported around the $1.3100 figure. Technically, today's intraday high was right around the 23.6% retracement of the move from $1.2480 to $1.3360.

The Bank of Japan's nine-member policy board agreed at a regular meeting last month that the central bank does not change interest rates based on a schedule set in advance and that it can maintain its "forward-looking" policy while being "data-dependent," the minutes of the Jan 17-18 meeting released today showed.
