Mid−Day Forex Technical Report − Free Fall in Yen Crosses Continues by ActionForex.com
USD/JPY dives further to as low as 113.58 today, taking out mentioned support zone of 114.41 and 115.13 (61.8% retracement of 108.99 to 124.13 at 114.77). At this point, further decline is still expected as long as 115.70 resistance holds. Touching of 115.70 will indicate a short term low is possibly formed and bring consolidation.

Friday Notes - Fear of a credit crunch intensifies by HVB Group
It will surprise no one if the first round of polling for the U of Michigan survey exposes a big drop in consumer sentiment. That is already the message of the daily Rasmussen consumer index, a relatively new but useful barometer of confidence. The reason is obvious: the turbulent stock market. Steadier gasoline prices probably kept the U of Michigan index from plunging all the way to June's depressed level, however.

U.S. housing starts continue decreasing in June (FXstreet.com)
Construction activity has decreased in July to its lowest level in 10 years as sales of new houses continue decreasing, according to the latest report released by the Commerce Department.

Euro Zone July CPI +1.8% On Year (Dow Jones)
Euro zone consumer price inflation fell 0.2% on the month and rose 1.8% on the year in July. This was in line with the figure forecast in a Dow Jones Newswire survey of economists and unrevised from an estimate announced July 31.

Retail sales have soared in the United Kingdom in July with a 0.7% increase, instead of the 0.1% increase expected by the analysts, according to the latest report by National Statistics.
