Mid-Day Forex Technical Report - More Consolidation to Follow in a Quiet Day by ActionForex.com

Cable stabilizes after reaching as low as 2.0182 earlier today. Subsequent recovery has push briefly above 2.0280 minor resistance, indicating that low is possibly formed after drawing support from mentioned support zone of 2.0086 and 2.0206. Intraday bias is flipped to the upside and further rebound towards 4 hours 55 EMA (now at 2.0422) could now be seen.

After the disappointing, strong decline in the previous month, retail sales should have recovered again in June. For the quarter as a whole, this will, therefore, also produce a solid increase of roughly 1% q-o-q in retail sales ex autos and petrol. Immediately after the VAT increase, they had plummeted 2.3% q-o-q

UK consumer lending improves in June (FXstreet.com)

Consumer lending has bounced back in the UK in June despite the Bank of England’s rate hike, according to the Bank’s latest monthly report. Consumer lending has risen to 10.4 billion pound in June from upwardly revised 9.6 billion in May, previously estimated as 9.5 billion.
