EUR/USD retreats sharply after a marginal break of 1.3822 fibo resistance (100% projection of 1.1639 to 1.2978 from 1.2483). The break of 1.3757 minor support, with bearish divergence condition in 4 hours MACD and RSI, suggests that a short term top could be in place at 1.3833 already.

Friday Notes - "Suberprimemania" refuses to go away by HVB Group

We expect retail sales to have expanded at a healthy 0.4% m-o-m in June, the same pace as in May. This would leave the 3M rate of change at around 1.2%. This is consistent, according to our model, with a nice acceleration in private spending in Q2 2007.

DATA SNAP: June CPI, Core Advance Within Expectations (Dow Jones)

U.S. consumer prices grew moderately last month, as energy costs retreated sharply, while underlying inflation advanced within market expectations. The consumer price index rose 0.2% in June, the Labor Department said Wednesday, down from May's 0.7% rise.
