Mid-Day Forex Technical Report - Yen Boosted by PBoC, CAD Breached 30 Yr High by ActionForex.com

USD/JPY retreats sharply after reaching as high as 121.39 earlier today. Touching of mentioned 120.67 support indicates an intraday top is already formed at 121.39 and intraday bias is shifted to the downside for further retreat towards 4 hours 55 EMA (now at 120.43) could be seen. However, a break of 119.43 cluster support (50% retracement from 117.60 to 121.39 at 119.50) is needed to signal rally from 115.13 low has completed.

Consumer sentiment levels improved in May, a report said Friday. The preliminary May Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index moved to 88.7, from 87.1 in April, and 88.4 in March. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had expected the May reading to come in at 87.0.

Canadian Retail Sales soar on cars demand (FXstreet.com)

Retail sales have increased in an unexpected extent in March, and in a broad manner, with seven of eight retail sectors posting sales increases, according to data by StatCan. Sales have jumped 1.9% in March from February to an estimated $34.0 billion, which seals off first quarter of the year with a 2.0% increase.
