Friday Notes - Rising risks for us consumption by HVB Group
After the slight decline in January, industrial production should remain flat in February. The underlying trend is gradually cooling off, in line with the recent figures of major factory surveys, which depict a moderate cyclical slowdown in the manufacturing sector. However, the broader GDP outlook remains one of solid growth.

US March import prices up 1.7 pct, largest rise since May as oil imports jump (AFX News)
Prices for imported goods rose in March by the largest amount in almost a year, the Labor Department said today. Import prices rose 1.7 pct in the month, after rising a revised 0.1 pct in the prior month. That's the largest rise in import prices since May, when they rose 1.8 pct.

As it was widely expected the European Central Bank has kept its interest rate on hold at its actual 3.75%. The markets have reacted after JC Trichet press conference, where Mr. Trichet has left out the word "vigilance" signaling the bank's stance on inflation observances, his stance on inflation remains hawkish as he said the bank will "very closely monitor" prices developments and will act in a "firm and timely manner."
