The deficit fell to $876mn in Jan from $1379mn. Exports rose 1.9%, led by non-rural goods, reinstating an uptrend. Imports fell 0.8%, but trended higher, with the fall driven by an aircraft drag on capital goods.

DATA SNAP: March ISM Manufacturing Index Shows Weaker Factory Growth (Dow Jones)
U.S. manufacturing activity grew more slowly than expected in March, amid accelerating price pressures. A report Monday from the Institute for Supply Management said that the group's manufacturing index for March moved to 50.9, from 52.3 in February and 49.3 in January. Readings over 50 indicate growth and the higher the number, the broader the growth.
