FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - According to the constitution of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda's party, he will have to face a vote on his leadership, against two members. Noda is supported by the former Prime Minister Naoto, so his position is considered to be safe. Meanwhile, the largest opposition party LDP (Liberal Democratic Party) will decide on its candidate next week. According to Commerzbank analysts say the Japan-China tensions are helping Noda's image despite the struggling economy: “While the relatively difficult situation of the Japanese economy suggests that the elections will not be held too soon (at least if there is hope that things might improve) the conflict with China about the uninhabited group of islands is likely to have gained him support amongst the electorate”, wrote analyst Lutz Karpowitz.
