The Dutch Finance Minister is against giving Greece more time for spending cuts and reforms. The leader of FDP, coalition partner of German Merkel’s CDU, also shares that view. According to the EU Commission, Greece is making progress with the bailout program and the Troika will be back on September.
The German bond auction results show a sale of €4.083B of 2-year paper at zero yield, little above of July’s -0.06%.
The German DAX 30 (-0.90%), the French CAC 40 (-0.75%), the Spanish IBEX 35 (-1.10%), the Italian FTSE MIB (-0.27%) and the British FTSE 100 (-1.30%) are edging lower on Wednesday.
Futures for the American S&P 500, Nasdaq 100 and Dow Jones 30 are signaling a lower open by -0.30% ahead of the August 1 FOMC minutes in the US, scheduled at 18:30 GMT. Before that, housing market data such as mortgage applications and existing home sales will be released.
WTI crude oil (-0.45%) is down at $96.39, while Gold (+0.11%) is up at $1648.
