TOKYO, July 2 The Nikkei opened gap up at 9103.79 but fell off thereafter to 9003.48 in the afternoon as longs successively took profits. Some fresh shorts may have been created at the early high. Holding in positive territory for most of the day, it finished down. Other Asian bourses are mixed with some also seeing modest gains earlier. The Shanghai Composite is currently just below par on the day, KOSPI off 0.13% and Sensex off 0.11%. Hong Kong was closed.
