FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - The Canarias government asked aid from the Spanish central government fund to cover financing needs totaling €756.8 million, Minister of Economy and Finance, Javier Gonzalez Ortiz, announced on Friday.

From the total amount, €326 million will be used to pay debt maturing between through the year-end, while €430 million will be used to finance the deficit that Spain has approved.

Canarias is the sixth Spain's region seeking for central government help after Catalonia, who requested €5.02 billion, Andalucía €4.9 billion, Valencia €3.5 billion, Murcia €641 million and Castilla -La Mancha €848 million. Spanish liquidity fund is endowed with €18 billion, from which regions have requested over €14 billion.
