FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The US Stock market experienced a positive opening Thursday after a general retreat yesterday hurt most indices. In the United States earlier today, Housing Starts (MoM) were reported at 0.954M in December, against a consensus of 0.890M. Meanwhile Building Permits (MoM) yielded a result of 0.903M in December, which was in line with expectations. Finally, Initial Jobless Claims (January 12) came in at 335K, beating projections of 365K.

Beginning with the indices and composites, the NASDAQ rose +0.35% as it settles in region of 3128.31, up +10.39 points in these moments. In addition, the S&P 500 is trading in positive territory, operating at 1476.79, climbing +3.98 points or +0.27% at the time of writing. Finally, the Dow Jones has moved higher at the opening as well, trading in the zone of 13552.70, presently +0.31% after an ascent of +41.47 points.

Sectors are all green at the opening, however the Consumer Cyclical and Technology sectors have distinguished themselves as the winners thus far, jumping +0.78% and +0.44% respectively. In other news, the price of crude has settled above USD $95.35 Thursday.
