FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Ellen Zentner, who is Nomura Senior US Economist, is calling for an 80,000 jobs rise at tomorrow's NFP fireworks, a number that would be pretty much as general consensus. Ellen reasoning: "The unrelenting crisis in Europe and, more recently, uncertainty about US fiscal policy appear to be weighing on business plans for hiring. Though initial jobless claims remain in a pre-recession “normal” range there has been a gradual rise in the 4-week moving average that suggests a softer hiring trend has emerged. To be sure, job growth has slowed markedly since March to a 3-month average of 96,000 compared with an average 252,000 in the three months ended February."
