BRUSSELS, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The current financial crisis should not be used as an excuse for higher budget deficits, Eurogroup Chairman Jean-Claude Juncker told a Luxembourg newspaper.

"The current crisis should not be a charter to increase deficits," Juncker told Luxemburger Wort newspaper in an interview published on Monday.

"It would have the effect of damaging confidence. It would mean that today's problems would be solved at the expense of future generations."
