FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - The European Central Bank said it is continuing to "closely monitor" conditions

in the euro money markets.

The central bank made the statement directly to the financial markets a day after injecting record amounts of liquidity into the market to avert a possible credit freeze.

"The ECB continues to closely monitor the conditions in the euro money market," the ECB said in a terse statement that was directly communicated to the financial markets.

German traders earlier this morning said they expect the ECB to inject additional funds into the money markets today after yesterday pumping 94.84 bln eur into the system to avert a possible credit freeze.
