Monetary−policy meeting at the Bank of England

Wed, Apr 9 2008, 12:13 GMT
by Morten Lykke Pedersen

Jyske Bank

Interest-rate announcement

Current interest rate: 5.25%

In favour of unchanged interest rates:

  • • Inflation may stay above the target.
  • • Decent retail sales data in recent months.

• In favour of a cut (-25 bp):

  • • Risk of drastic slowdown in growth
  • • Slowdown in the housing market
  • • Continuing financial turmoil

Our expectation: interest rates left unchanged at 5.25%
