Statistics South Africa has published inflation numbers for May today. May’s inflation came out at 8.0% y/y – slightly higher than the consensus expectation of 7.9% y/y but in line with our forecast. Hence, inflation continues to remain well above the South African central bank’s (SARB) target range of 3-6%.
