French household consumer spending on goods increased 0.4% in May. This is a positive surprise, the second in a row, after their 0.7% rise in April. The 1.4% gain in manufactured goods purchases consolidates this new increase. These figures strengthen our current forecast of a small GDP contraction in Q2, mitigated by the resilience of private consumption.
