Depression

In economics, depression is a severe sustained recession. Like a recession, a depression is a prolonged slump or downturn in the business cycle, marked by reduced output and investment, a high level of unemployment, and tightening credit. Price deflation and an increased number of bankruptcies are also manifestations of a depression. Most economists agree that a recession is a normal part of the business cycle, yet a depression is abnormal.
