Single Stocks: Netflix potential for big moves, promising chart patterns for Burberry

Connor Campbell, financial analyst for Spreadex, joined Nick Batsford on the Tip TV Finance Show to discuss his views on Netflix, WH Smith, Burberry, ASOS and the Dow.

Campbell begun with the Dow, and highlighted that it has a busy week ahead with 1/6th of its firms reporting earnings so we could see potentially large movements in either direction depending on the strength of the results.

In terms of Netflix, Campbell outlined that it has been dancing between $100 and $115 levels, after hitting its all-time high earlier in August. He added that this could be a big mover, with the move weighing heavily on subscription figures, but he also recognised that this stocks comes with high expectations which may hold the stock back from a significant jump up or down.

He continued to WH Smith, where he commented that it has realised where its strengths are, with travel stores growing 8% up to June whilst high street stores suffered. He concluded that it has still been in profit and has navigated the volatile times well, thus he leaned to more upside.

When concerning Burberry, Campbell noted that it has seen sellers around £15, and has suffered from the Chinese and Asian downturn, with 10% of its sales coming from Hong Kong. He believed that it is not in too dangerous territory yet, but could be in trouble with further data releases from China and Asia in the near future.

To finish, he expressed that ASOS has had a rough two years, but Campbell highlighted that they may be coming out the other end stronger.
